Meet all our permanent foster hedgehogs at Happy Quills, whose journey to forever homes has led them to the loving embrace of dedicated foster carers. Mikey
Due to his age, specific care needs, and disgruntled disposition, Mikey will remain a permanent foster, receiving essential care and support from sponsors to ensure he lives out his remaining years in a safe and loving environment.
Mikey arrived with terrible skin issues, but his foster carer lovingly restored him to peak health. He now likes to come to the edge of his viv for a little daily chat and is much friendlier than when he arrived at Happy Quills.
Miles
Miles, who arrived at Happy Quills in September 2023, quickly became known for his endearing puppy dog eyes and captivating smile. Despite his initial shyness, he gradually opened up under the care of his foster carer. After being adopted, Miles sadly had to return due to his owner's severe allergies, but now, at around 4 years old, he's found a permanent home at Happy Quills where he'll be cherished and pampered for the rest of his days.
Sonic
Sonic arrived at Happy Quills August 2024. Like his name sake, he is one speedy little guy who is always on the go. He is a spritely four year old with more energy than some hogs half his age. Sadly he was diagnosed with a ruptured tumour under his arm pit at the end of August and due to his age an operation was not advisable, so he will need pain medication for the rest of his life.

Forrest
Forrest arrived at Happy Quills September 2024. He is 5 years old and is currently living the life of luxury in London. We have heard on the grapevine that he might have secured a modelling contract with 'The Hog House' with his smouldering dark looks.
Forrest is a very active hog and has been running and snooping about from the get go. He adores his big new enclosure to explore. At night time he loves nothing more than munching mealworms and slurping soggy kibble.
Clio (The Clanger)
Clio (was Twinkle) joined Happy Quills 29/9/24. She was a teeny tiny 280g, but she has slowly being putting on some much needed weight in the loving care of her permanent foster carer. Not surprisingly, she has a crazy appetite. She does not like her wheel (older hogs can go off them) but whizzes around her viv doing laps instead (please note she is not displaying stressed behaviour) . Buttercup
Beautiful Buttercup joined Happy Quills 29/9/24. It quickly became apparent that she was suffering the effects of a serious hibernation attempt. Once recovered from the hibernation attempt she then showed some very worrying stressed behaviour. Due to her behaviour and a higher chance of repeated hibernation attempts, she has been kept as a permanent foster.
She has started to bond with her foster mummy, but is extremely distrustful of anyone else. If you would like to "Build Her Up, Buttercup" then she is available to sponsor now.
Freddie
Freddie joined Happy Quills 23/10/24. Freddie came in with a slight head tilt, that his previous owners said he had had since birth. This does not seem to affect him in anyway, however, we are worried that this could be due to neurological issues as occasionally we have noticed his front legs being uncoordinated. Although he is only one year old we have decided to keep Freddie as a permanent foster in case he develops further symptoms.

To begin, when you first sign up, we will email you a personalised certificate along with welcome details on your chosen hedgehog. Along with this, you will be sent a welcome package with some hedgehog themed goodies. These goodies include a Happy Quills tote bag, a knitted hedgehog (colours vary), a keychain, a printed photo of your chosen hedgehog, and a card.
Along with this we supply our sponsors with quarterly updates sent at the end of January, April, July and October. Our packs are available for adults and children, with updates tailored to age. Plus all sponsors receive a free entry into any giveaways we run across the year.
